ABSTRACT
Threadsnakes of the tribe Epictini are endemic to New World, occurring from United States Argentina, mostly in Neotropical region. Currently, taxonomic status most species is unclear and there has been no previous attempt a comprehensive revision taxa. Taxonomy group difficult task due paucity geographic samples, general homogeneous morphology brevity descriptions. Therefore, only way address existing names through detailed characterization types search for additional material poorly known species. In this study, we evaluated Colombian threadsnakes report on geographical variation meristic, morphometric, colour pattern, hemipenis characters. On basis available samples recognize following Colombia: Epictia goudotii, E. magnamaculata, signata, Rena nicefori, Tricheilostoma brevissimum, T. dugandi, joshuai macrolepis. We discuss systematic position nicefori propose its allocation genus based unique combination morphological Furthermore, provide key representatives Colombia.
