ABSTRACT
In order to check the presence and distribution of Rhyacophila fasciata Hagen 1859 (species described from Austria) R. denticulata McLachlan 1879 in Iberian Peninsula, we studied morphology Spanish, French, Austrian specimens, together with their mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase (mtCOI). We observed that individuals considered date as are fact two different species: denticulata, presently known France possibly some rivers Basque Country (Spain), sociata Navás 1916 distributed Spain France. These species also reference (R. fasciata) Austria, so propose a change taxonomic status (stat. prom.) restoration res.), designation neotype, due loss holotype.
