ABSTRACT
Purpose: To estimate the impact of transition from intermediate to exudative neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) on inner retina and assess relationship clinical characteristics optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings with retinal changes. Methods: A total 80 participants (80 eyes) AMD at baseline who developed within 3 months were included in analysis. OCT scans follow-up visits (after AMD) compared values latest visit evidence quantify longitudinal images also reviewed for qualitative features reflecting distress outer or pigment epithelium presence exudation. Results: The parafoveal perifoveal thicknesses 97.6 ± 12.9 µm 103.5 16.2 µm, respectively, baseline, a significant increase was detected first (parafoveal: 99.0 12.8 P = 0.040; perifoveal: 107.9 19.0 0.0007). Conversely, significantly thinner 12-month after initiation anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy 90.3 14.8 < 0.0001; 92.0 21.3 0.0001). At visit, alterations external limiting membrane history previous intraretinal fluid associated greater thinning. Conclusions: development neovascularization is neuronal loss that may be once exudation resolved. analysis demonstrated between morphological using structural amount loss.
