ABSTRACT
We evaluated the validity of a single dry eye severity measure estimated using Rasch analysis from battery clinical tests and patient symptoms. This study included 203 patients 51 controls. Administered Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), tear osmolarity, Schirmer's test, noninvasive break-up time, ocular surface staining. Each 12 OSDI questions each test was defined to be separate indicator estimate analysis. Measures were for subject (person measures) measures sensitivity sign symptom (indicator measures). The average significantly greater than controls (-0.39 vs. -1.2, P < 0.001). The distribution well matched person measures. No carried >10% total information about by all indicators together. However, most informative corneal conjunctival staining. Our indicated that there is no "best" test. Clinical symptoms should used in combination measure. There "gold standard" testing method correlates with disease. propose can calculate an objective score indicators.
