Emergence of intense suicidal preoccupation during fluoxetine treatment

Six depressed patients free of recent serious suicidal ideation developed intense, violent preoccupation after 2-7 weeks fluoxetine treatment. This state persisted for as little 3 days to long months discontinuation fluoxetine. None these had ever experienced a similar during treatment with any other psychotropic drug.
