ABSTRACT
Here we report a pig with amyloid A (AA) amyloidosis associated Streptococcus suis infection and identification of unique sequence in the deposits tissue. Tissues from 180-day-old underdeveloped contained foci necrosis suppurative inflammation S. infection. Congo red stain, immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy revealed intense AA deposition spleen renal glomeruli. Mass spectrometric analysis material extracted showed serum 2 (SAA2) peptide as well previously reported amyloidosis. The common detection current past cases pigs suggests that this might play key role development porcine An vitro fibrillation assay demonstrated formed typically rigid, long fibrils (10 nm wide) N-terminus SAA2 zigzagged, short fibers (7 wide). Moreover, long, rigid presence sonicated by peptide. These findings indicate mediate via cross-seeding polymerization.
