ABSTRACT
Myocardial and pancreatic lesions induced by sublethal doses of T-2 toxin in swine were characterized light electron microscopy. Toxin was given intravenously to six 17- 18-week-old pigs. Pigs killed 24 or 48 hours after treatment. Grossly, subendocardial hemorrhages, multifocal pinpoint white foci myocardium, edema occurred one treated pig. Histologic changes myocardium pigs consisted edema, mononuclear cell infiltration, myofiber hyalinization, vacuolation, contraction bands with nuclear pyknosis. Ultrastructurally, there areas myofibrillar disorganization, dilation sarcoplasmic reticulum, formation hypercontraction bands. mineralization seen the pig gross lesions. Pancreatic acinar degeneration necrosis. Ultrastructural included irregular rough endoplasmic reticulum abnormal zymogen granules. Thus, addition radiomimetic gastrointestinal tract lymphoid organs, heart pancreas are target organs swine.
