ABSTRACT
Background In a feasibility randomised controlled trial, training was developed to equip occupational therapists deliver early specialised traumatic brain injury vocational rehabilitation in the English National Health Service (NHS). Method The package by experts and injury, included manual, direct instruction six trainers opportunity for mentorship four therapists. Following training, were interviewed regarding effectiveness ease of use package. Interviews analysed using framework approach. Results Five trained organised into categories: (1) motivation participate research; (2) impact learning environment; (3) changing confidence levels over time; (4) growing appreciation complexities about intervention; (5) acceptability package; (6) lessons future implementation. Conclusion reported acquiring knowledge necessary implement intervention. data indicate that packages require detailed descriptions interventions being taught local implementation NHS research. materials are valued but time familiarisation, reminders from mentors help put practice. have concerns implementing within research context, which researchers should address.
