ABSTRACT
The Bernese periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) is an effective surgical treatment option for symptomatic acetabular dysplasia. Little evidence exists regarding the results of PAO and rates return to play (RTP) in athletic population.The majority athletes will demonstrate improvements functional outcome measures, such as modified Harris Hip Score Disability Osteoarthritis Outcome Score, be able sports after PAO.Case series; Level evidence, 4.A comprehensive hip database at academic referral center was used identify a subpopulation on whom performed. Data analyzed included preceding surgeries, reoperations, RTP timing features. Standard pre- postoperative radiologic parameters validated measures were assessed, regression model assessed risk factors prolonged time RTP.Of 245 PAOs performed over 5-year study period, 46 41 patients who met inclusion criteria being athlete (mean age, 26.2 years; range, 13-41 36 females; 19% all PAOs), representing variety sports.
