ABSTRACT
Bovine origin matrix has been widely used in clinical applications and investigated by various research institutions. However, the potential factors that influence bone regeneration are still not thoroughly understood need further investigations. In this study, properties of anorganic bovine (ABBM), organic-containing (OBBM), acknowledged (Bio-Oss) were compared. Besides, correlations between physiochemical characterizations three xenografts also investigated. Physiochemical measured special instrumentations. animal studies, implanted into 8-mm-diameter cranial defects 16 New Zealand white rabbits. The biological effects evaluated micro-computed tomography histomorphometric analysis after 6 12 weeks implantation. physical showed Bio-Oss had more nanostructures, larger surface area, bigger pore volume, size than matrix. chemical higher crystallinity matrix, contained organic nitrogen (N) component. vivo, possessed better Taken together, played an active role new formation. lower N element produced a positive effect on graft degradation. abovementioned findings could provide theoretical basis for choice manufacturing hydroxyapatite-derived future.
