ABSTRACT
Due to the complex structure and thin thickness of guide vane edge hydraulic retarder impeller, casting defects such as shrinkage porosity misrun are usually formed during casting, which have a close relationship with filling solidification process. In this work, processes impeller in various gating systems, named case 1 3, were simulated distribution characteristics potential predicted by ProCAST software based on mathematical models, boundary conditions, parameters investment casting. The simulation results show that aim complete can be achieved using all three systems. However, only 3 system consisted one sprue riser four feeding risers provide suitable channel melt Therefore, no porosities form because transfer solidification. optimized been verified experiment, rapid has realized 3D printed polystyrene patterns. visual X-ray inspections both eliminated actually final cast, matched well numerical for impeller. Many experiment new product these optimization very helpful reduce defect improve quality.
