ABSTRACT
In this paper, we present a study of Science and Technology Studies (STS) perspectives on public engagement, specifically focusing the gap between theory practice. aiming to develop conceptual map gap, identify five top topics tension. These are related general questions of: “Why should do engagement?,” “Who be involved?,” “How it organised?,” “When done?” “Where grounded?” We employ nanotechnology as paradigmatic case help us explore these tensions. practice, choices one makes in relation topic tension may influence available for others. Enhanced awareness presence tensions, well their interconnections, can build reflexive capacity make visible various alternative routes STS practitioners working “age engagement.”
