ABSTRACT
The expression of gratitude by children and young adolescents in different societies is the topic this special issue. We introduce concept as a virtue, explaining its differences from viewed positive emotion. Although most research on uses samples Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic (WEIRD) (primarily United States), we discuss importance studying development across cultural groups. Despite evidence to suggest that desirable multiple historical periods, there no reason assume developmental pathways found one or other WEIRD society would be non-WEIRD latter have similar pathways. Children’s countries explored issue using Baumgarten-Tramer’s (1938) paradigm well Kağıtçıbaşı’s (2007) framework address both similarities cultures.
