ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the diagnostic value mean platelet volume (MPV) in acute appendicitis (AA). Methods: Our carried out 206 healthy control groups and 226 patients who had a preliminary diagnosis AA. Results: A statistically significant decrease MPV noted with AA compared controls (P < .001). best level cutoff point for 7.6 fL, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive (PPV), negative (NPV) 73%, 84%, 74%, respectively. Conclusions: As is included complete blood count (CBC) analysis, it increases sensitivity NPVs white cell (WBC) without need extra analyses, loss time, or cost increase. Therefore, we believe that should also be taken into consideration along WBC every patient suspected
