ABSTRACT
Most research on the association between high body mass index (BMI) and working memory (WM) has been cross-sectional in design, limiting conclusions about long-term effects of overweight obesity WM. The aim this study was to examine BMI trajectory from 11 22 years with WM at age. Data 1993 Pelotas (Brazil) Birth Cohort Study were analyzed (N = 3,010). Information collected ages 11, 15, 18, years. Group-based modeling used separately for each sex identify trajectories. Working Memory performance (Digit Span backward score) examined age 22. Multiple linear regression assess In both sexes, groups were: stable normal weight, overweight, obesity. adjusted analyses, women stable-obesity group had lower (β -.49; 95% CI: -0.75, -0.23; p < .001) than those stable-normal weight group. No associations found trajectories men. This may contribute future investigations possible explanatory avenues
