Understanding the experiences of people with dementia and their family carers participating in healthcare student dementia education: A mixed-methods evaluation from the time for dementia programme

ABSTRACT
There is increasing awareness of the potential for positive impacts on student learning from involving people with dementia and family carers within undergraduate teaching. However, research experience their sparse. This study aimed to evaluate satisfaction views families (people carers) who volunteered in Time Dementia (TFD); an educational programme where healthcare students visit at home over a 2-year period.Families taking part TFD completed survey after (n = 803). Frequencies items were summarised multiple linear regression models factors associated total scores produced. Open text responses analysed using thematic framework analysis as most favourable aspects areas requiring improvement.Overall was high TFD, perception contribution, being value. strong evidence that enjoyed would recommend participation others. Higher numbers visits significantly greater satisfaction. Families identified benefited them, social interaction rating highly. Improvements suggested by included increased structure organisational improvements.This has sought scale education programme.
