ABSTRACT
John of Northampon, a monk at Westminster from 1372 to 1404 is mentioned in Abbey records as having paid for paintings Judgement and an Apocalypse, both the chapter house. The present painting east building unlike conventional Doom paintings, inscriptions on wings one angelic figure indicate iconography penance rather than judgement.
