ABSTRACT
Abstract Background The prostate gland plays a vital role in the production of seminal fluid, which serves to nourish and transport sperm. Prostate-related conditions, particularly benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) cancer (PC), represent significant health concerns among men globally, with notable impact African regions. This study investigated prevalence BPH PC suburban towns Cross River State, Nigeria. research aims provide critical data for healthcare planning intervention. Methods A cross-sectional was conducted from January 2023 August 2023, involving 1,179 aged 44 above across various urban rural communities within State. Participants underwent sonographic assessment using transabdominal ultrasound, clinical evaluation questionnaires were then administered at different institutions. Statistical analysis performed SPSS version 28, results are presented as tables percentages. Results findings revealed incidence 16.67% 0.81%. Age-specific indicated increase advancing age, highest rates observed 50–59 60–80 years PC, respectively. also identified contributing factors such family history, lifestyle, dietary patterns influencing occurrence these conditions. Conclusion underscore need enhanced public strategies, including regular screening programs, early diagnosis, education on lifestyle modifications. These measures crucial mitigating improving patient outcomes, reducing burden systems Africa.
