ABSTRACT
Porphyromonas gingivalis, a microorganism residing in the oral cavity within complex multispecies biofilms, is one of keystone pathogens onset and progression periodontitis. In this vitro study, using DNA microarray, we investigate differential gene expression gingivalis ATCC 33277 when growing presence or absence its own monospecies biofilm. Approximately 1.5% genes (28 out 1909 genes, at 1.5 fold change more, p-value < 0.05) were differentially expressed by P. cells These predominantly related to metabolism iron, bacterial adhesion, invasion, virulence quorum-sensing system. The results from microarrays consistent with those obtained RT-qPCR. This study provides insight on transcriptional changes planktonic resulting phenotypes provide information occurring pathogen.
