ABSTRACT
The incidence of early-onset (under 50 years age) colorectal cancer (CRC) in the Vietnamese has been reported to be quite higher than that Japanese. To clarify differences genetic alterations between and Japanese CRCs, we investigated mutations K-ras mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) high-frequency microsatellite instability (MSI-H) CRCs patients. We enrolled 60 233 patients with invasive CRCs. was extracted from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. were examined PCR-single-strand conformation polymorphism analysis. mtDNA MSI-H analysis using D310 BAT-26, respectively. 45 frequency significantly (8 24 [33%] vs 5 [11%], p =0.048). 130 also (6 27 [22%] 10 [8%], =0.030). 138 (19 44 [43%] 11 133 [9%], <0.001). There no significant clinicopathologic characteristics, such as age, sex, tumour location, depth, terms tumours with/without each alteration These results indicate developmental pathways may differ those
