Temporal trends in pre-ART patient characteristics and outcomes before the test and treat era in Central Kenya

ABSTRACT
Retention of patients who did not initiate antiretroviral therapy (ART) has been persistently low compared to those initiated ART. Understanding the temporal trends in clinical outcomes prior ART initiation may inform interventions targeting do immediately after diagnosis.A retrospective cohort analysis known HIV-infected from healthcare facilities Central Kenya was done investigate characteristics, retention, and mortality outcomes. The data were sourced Comprehensive Care Clinic Patient Application Database (CPAD) IQ care electronic patient-level databases for enrolled between 2004 2014.A total 13,779 assessed, whom 30.7% men.There statisitically significant differences relating marital status, WHO stage, tuberculosis (TB) status 2014. proportion widowed decreased 9.1 6.0%. By stage at enrollment program, I increased over time 8.7 43.1%, while III IV reduced 28.5 10.8% 4.0 1.1% respectively. Those on TB treatment during their last visit 8.3 3.9% with no signs 58.5 86.8%. Trends 6 12 month retention loss follow-up (LTFU) statistically significant. At months, program ranged 36.0% a high 54.1% 2013. LTFU months remained around 50.0% most cohorts, 7.5% but 3.8% above across all cohorts rate reached 2014.Trends pre suggested higher among women earlier stages. generally improved 11 year period, though dipped as asymptomatic disease increased.
