Ocular surface disorders affect quality of life in patients with autoimmune blistering skin diseases: a cross-sectional study

ABSTRACT
Autoimmune blistering skin diseases (AIBD) are a group of rare chronic autoimmune which associated with ocular surface especially dry eye disease. This study is designed to investigate the relationship between disorders and quality life among patients diseases.Twenty-four AIBD (18 pemphigus 7 pemphigoid) twenty-five non-AIBD controls were included. Ocular disease index (OSDI), evaluation, including slit-lamp examination, Schirmer I test, tear break-up time, corneal fluorescein staining, lid-parallel conjunctival folds, meibomian gland presence symblepharon opacity assessed. Life was evaluated by multiple questionnaires, Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short Form Questionnaire (SF-36), Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability (HAQ-DI). tests compared controls. In patients, associations parameters also evaluated.92% 87.5% age- sex-matched diagnosed in this study. Compared controls, reported lower SF-36 scores (P < 0.05) severer OSDI, measures 0.05). test correlated composite or on subscales.AIBD experience reduced more severe eye, opacity.
