ABSTRACT
Data are needed to inform hepatitis B virus (HBV) testing and treatment policies in Ghana make progress towards achieving the 2030 WHO elimination targets. This study investigated patterns for HBV described age, sex, region-specific prevalence of infection using hospital data.A nationwide multi-centre cross-sectional was performed where hospital-based registers were reviewed. These included review 139,966 laboratory, 169,048 blood bank, 83,920 delivery register entries from 22 healthcare institutions Ghana. Frequencies proportions, crude pooled estimates reported. Chi squared test used tests independence. Logistic regression identify factors associated with a positive result. The HBsAg seroprevalence 8.48% (95%CI 8.25-8.57%) estimate 11.40% 10.44-12.35). among children under 5 years 1.87% 1.07-3.27) highest age-specific those 40-49 years. The seroprevalences Savannah (22.7%). Predictors RDT female sex (OR 0.81 95% CI 0.74-0.88), age 1.005 95%CI 1.002-1.007). proportion parturient women receiving increased between 2017 (87.2%) 2020 (94.3%) (p < 0.001). 6.14% (95% 5.97-6.31). Among donors 5.69% 5.58-5.80). 2 teaching hospitals indicated that 2020, although 1500 recorded only 746 serological profile 804 DNA performed. e antigen 6.28% 4.73-7.84).Ghana remains country high burden. There is an unequal distribution, higher north country. Furthermore, PCR not widely available outside large hospitals, which limits diagnostic work-up. Hepatitis reporting systems should be improved facilitate data capture indicators standardised across allow comparability. gains have been made pregnant women, there need linkage appropriate care.
