The effect of comorbidities on glycemic control among Colombian adults with diabetes mellitus: a longitudinal approach with real-world data

ABSTRACT
Achieving an optimal glycemic control has been described to reduce the incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) related complications. The association between comorbidities and remains unclear. Our aim is evaluate effect on in people living with DM.A retrospective longitudinal study data from National Registry Chronic Kidney Disease 2014 2019 Colombia. outcome was poor (PGC = HbA1c ≥7.0%). each comorbidity (hypertension (HTN), chronic kidney disease (CKD) or obesity) PGC evaluated through multivariate mixed effects logistic regression models. measures were odds ratios (OR) their 95% confidence intervals (CI). We also main associations stratified by gender, insurance, early onset as well statistical interaction ethnicity.From 969,531 at baseline, 85% had least one comorbidity; they older mostly female. In DM CKD, having a 78% (OR: 1.78, CI 95%: 1.55-2.05) higher than those without CKD. Same pattern observed obese for whom 52% 1.52, 1.31-1.75) non-obese.
