ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Since the effects of sterilization on Fiberglass Reinforced Resin Crowns (FRRCs) is not well-known aim current study was to evaluate autoclave fracture resistance, color stability, and surface composition FRRCs. Methods A total 48 crowns were used. The divided into three groups according number: no (Control Group), one (Group 1), four sterilizations 2). microstructure from each group evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. Thirteen FRRCs first used for stability testing then resistance analysis. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA), one-way repeated measures ANOVA, paired t-tests in statistical Results EDX results revealed that weight% silicon atoms 2 significantly higher. Some crack lines could be observed SEM images. Statistically significant differences found following fourth cycles (p < .01). increase cycle did statistically decrease = .055); however, overall, a decreasing trend as increased. Conclusions Autoclave caused some changes elemental morphology Avoiding unnecessary FRRC trials important reduce number sterilizations.
