ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) encompass pain and dysfunction in the jaw, muscles, adjacent structures. This study aimed to explore quantitative (condylar position, morphology) qualitative (bone mineral density (BMD)) therapeutic outcomes following a stabilization splint (S.S.) therapy adult patients diagnosed with TMD (Arthralgia) with/without lateral mandibular asymmetry (MA) using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods In this retrospective clinical study, 60 who received S.S. were enrolled allocated into group (TMDG) MA (TMD + MAG). The diagnosis was made according Diagnostic Criteria for (DC/TMD) AXIS I. measured from mid-sagittal plane Menton point. CBCT used scan temporomandibular joints pre- (T0) post- (T1)-treatment three-dimensional analysis. Intra- intergroup statistical comparisons performed Wilcoxon signed ranks Kruskal‒Wallis test. Results For comparisons, there statistically significant difference between T0 T1 joint spaces of MAG (anterior, superior, posterior, coronal on deviated side as well medial space contralateral side). Morphologically, had narrower condylar width, reduced height, steeper eminence angle. contrast, tended have greater length. measurements, BMD also showed significance majority condyle slopes (AS, SS, PS, LS AS MS side) MAG.
