ABSTRACT
This is a cross-sectional study carried out in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Kasr Al- Ainy Cairo University Hospitals.One thousand female patients child bearing period (age 18-45 yrs) were included this study. These females non-pregnant non-menstruating with no douching or intercourse for least 2-3 days, use of antibiotics, anti-protozoal steroids past 15 days complaining vaginal discharge without itching, burning sensation both. Vaginal swabs obtained from all examination by direct wet mount examination, Giemsa staining, Modified Diamond culture latex agglutination test Kalon) to detect presence Trichomonas vaginalis infection.The prevalence trichomonas infection was 50 cases, detected positive 30 which also culture, only 10 both staining mount. The mount, Kalon had sensitivities 33.3, 33.3% 100% respectively while their specificities 100%, 97.9% respectively.Screening tests should be done routinely depict cases T. control programs sexually transmitted infections. Although not sensitive method diagnosis yet, it good one. Staining useful when there heavy infection. Latex highly sensitive, simple, rapid cost effective test. It provides results within minutes has potential screening
