ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Herbal medicines have been a major target for numerous studies through the past years as an alternative treatment cancer, mainly due to their minimal effects on normal healthy cells. Annona cherimola, popularly known Cherimoya, is edible natural fruit rich in phytochemical components and possess various biological activities. Previous reported anti-cancerous effect of A. cherimola ethanolic leaf extract (AELE) leukemia. This study aims at studying potential anti-cancer activity this vitro two different breast cancer cell lines, namely MDA-MB-231 MCF-7, addition investigating its toxicity mesenchymal stem Methods The anti-proliferative AELE was evaluated via viability assay. Propidium iodide staining, Cell Death Detection ELISA flow cytometry analysis Annexin V binding were used assess cycle progression, DNA fragmentation apoptosis induction, respectively. Protein expression determined Western Blot decipher underlying apoptotic molecular mechanism induced upon treatment. Results found be selective triple-negative line (MDA-MB-231) time- dose-dependent manner with IC 50 390.2 μg/mL 48 h, no cytotoxic murine pro-apoptotic confirmed by increase cellular fragmentation, flipping phosphatidylserine moiety outer leaflet, binding. revealed involvement mitochondrial pathway, shown alterations permeability upregulation cytochrome c expression. Conclusion All data presented our suggest that exhibits chemo-resistant cells, providing evidence anti-tumor .
