Supporting the nation in crisis: the military health system’s role in enhancing public health capacity through public–private partnerships

ABSTRACT
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused significant global disruptions to the healthcare system, which was forced make rapid changes in delivery. necessitated closer collaboration between US civilian sector and military health system (MHS), resulting new strengthened partnerships that can ultimately benefit public for nation. In this study, we sought understand full range of MHS engaged with during COVID-19 elicit lessons future. We conducted key informant interviews policymakers advisers, program managers providers who were affiliated from March 2020 through December 2022. Key themes derived using thematic analysis open coding methods. 28 2022 2023. During pandemic, collaborated federal local authorities private entities endeavours such as Operation Warp Speed. Lessons recommendations future pandemics also identified, including investment biosurveillance systems integration behavioural social sciences. rapidly established fostered sectors pandemic. experience showed while is a useful resource nation, it benefits partnering variety organizations, agencies companies. Continuing develop these will be crucial coordinated, effective responses pandemics.
