ABSTRACT
Vitreoretinal lymphoma (VRL) is a life- and sight-threatening disorder. The aim of this study was to analyze the usefulness cell block method for diagnosis VRL.Sixteen eyes in 12 patients with VRL, 4 idiopathic uveitis presenting vitreous opacity were enrolled study. Both undiluted diluted fluids isolated during micro-incision vitrectomy. Cell specimens prepared 19 from fluid containing shredding vitreous. These then submitted HE staining as well immunocytological analyses antibodies against B-cell marker CD20, T-cell CD3, proliferation Ki67. Conventional smear cytology applied 14 VRL using samples. made based on results cytology, concentrations interleukin (IL)-10 IL-6 vitreous, immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement analysis.Atypical lymphoid cells identified out 15 (positive rate: 93.3 %), but 5 conventional 35.7 %). Atypical showed immunoreactivity CD20 Seven cytology-negative block-positive. no atypical any patient uveitis.Cell demonstrated high diagnostic sensitivity low pseudo-positive rate cytological VRL. contributed clear differentiation between opacity.
