ABSTRACT
Terpenoid hydrocarbons represent the largest and most ancient group of phytochemicals, such that entire chemical library a plant is often referred to as its 'terpenome'. Besides having numerous pharmacological properties, terpenes contribute scent rose, flavors cinnamon yellow sunflowers. Rapidly increasing -omics datasets provide an unprecedented opportunity for terpenome detection, paving way automated web resources dedicated phytochemical predictions in genomic data.We have developed Terzyme, predictive algorithm identification, classification assignment broad substrate unit terpene synthase (TPS) prenyl transferase (PT) enzymes, known generate enormous structural functional diversity terpenoid compounds across kingdom. Terzyme uses sequence information, taxonomy machine learning methods predicting TPSs PTs genome proteome datasets. We demonstrate significant enrichment currently identified by running on more than 40 plants.Terzyme result rigorous analysis evolutionary relationships between hundreds characterized sequences with specificities, followed genome-wide gene distribution patterns, ontology based clustering optimization various parameters building accurate profile Hidden Markov Models. The webserver database freely available at http://nipgr.res.in/terzyme.html would serve useful tool deciphering species-specific potential genomes.
