Chinmedomics: a potent tool for the evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine efficacy and identification of its active components

Abstract As an important part of medical science, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) attracts much public attention due to its multi-target and multi-pathway characteristics in treating diseases. However, the limitations traditional research methods pose a dilemma for evaluation clinical efficacy, discovery active ingredients elucidation mechanism action. Therefore, innovative approaches that are line with TCM theory practice urgently needed. Chinmendomics, newly emerging strategy evaluating efficacy TCM, is proposed. This combines systems biology, serum pharmacochemistry bioinformatics evaluate holistic view by accurately identifying syndrome biomarkers monitoring their complex metabolic processes intervened finding agents associated course pharmacodynamic constructing bioinformatics-based correlation network model further reveal interaction between targets.
