ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Tissue-engineering strategies based on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and cell sheets have been widely used for periodontal tissue regeneration. However, given the complexity in structure, regeneration methods using a single species of MSC could not fulfill requirement Methods We researched interaction between ligament (PDLSCs) jaw bone marrow-derived (JBMMSCs), constructed composite sheet comprising both above MSCs to regenerate complex periodontium-like structures nude mice. Results Our results show that by co-culturing PDLSCs JBMMSCs, expressions extracellular matrix (ECM)-related genes proteins were significantly improved MSCs. Further investigations showed that, compared or (CSCS), which comprises these two MSCs, expressed higher levels bone- ECM-related proteins, generated structure more similar native physiologically vivo. Conclusions In conclusion, our demonstrate crosstalk JBMMSCs facilitate structures, providing promising new strategy physiological functional tissue.
