ABSTRACT
Gender difference in cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) is an important topic the field of medicine. In this study, we focused on mortality abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), which higher for female than that male. The aim study was to verify whether morphological and hemodynamic factors play their roles phenomenon. Patient-specific AAA models 11 females 23 males with similar age body mass index (BMI) have been reconstructed based clinical computed tomography (CT) data. Firstly, parameters (diameters, curvature, intraluminal thrombus volume, etc.) lumbar vertebrae were collected analyzed. Then, statistical results parameters, uniformed male reconstructed, simulations conducted respectively. post-processing, performances induced by gender-different geometries analyzed compared. comparison revealed average curvature centerline obviously amount relatively lower According simulation, uniform model has peak pressure, oscillatory shear stress (OSI), relative residence time (RRT) model, all put a risk situation. features very obvious gender differences would induce rupture biomechanically. These findings help explore mechanism draw attention gender-specific consideration treatment. More indictors are suggested be involved future guidelines.
