ABSTRACT
Abstract Recently, various types of steel meshes were used as additional internal reinforcement for improving the confinement, ductility, and strength reinforced concrete (RC) columns. In this experimental study, a welded wire mesh (WWM) layer was an in addition to traditional (longitudinal bars transverse ties) short long RC columns under concentric eccentric compression. Thirty-six square with two slenderness ratios λ (height width ratio) 9 18 tested compression eccentricity e/t (eccentricity section thickness 0, 0.13, 0.26. The reference traditionally longitudinal ties volumetric ratio ρ r 0.44%. other comprised WWM wrapped outside whose ranged from 0.22% results demonstrated that showed improvement ductility compared those only. A increased ultimate load comprising by approximately 16% 9% columns, respectively. These improvements proportional ratio.
