ABSTRACT
Abstract Background In the case of people who carry an increased number anxiety traits and maladaptive coping strategies, psychosocial stressors may further increase level perceived stress they experience. our research study, we aimed to examine levels health as well styles among university students amid COVID-19 pandemic. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted using online-based survey at University Debrecen during official lockdown in Hungary when dormitories were closed, teaching remotely. Our questionnaire solicited data three assessment tools, namely, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Ways Coping Questionnaire (WCQ), Short Health Anxiety Inventory (SHAI). Results total 1320 have participated 31 non-eligible responses excluded. Among remaining 1289 participants, 948 (73.5%) 341 (26.5%) Hungarian international students, respectively. Female predominated overall sample with 920 participants (71.4%). general, there a statistically significant positive relationship between anxiety. significantly higher compared domestic ones. Regarding coping, wishful thinking associated while being goal-oriented person acted opposite way. cognitive restructuring strategy lower Concerning anxiety, female (domestic international) had males. Moreover, males group, however, no difference females group. Conclusion The elevated major life events can be deepened by disengagement from home (being away/abroad country or family) inadequate strategies. By following adhering recommendations, adopting proper methods, equipping oneself required management skills, high could mitigated.
