ABSTRACT
Perceived control of internal states is important for disease prevention, stress buffering and life adaptability. However, there no psychometric scale to measure beliefs over in China. This study aimed adapt validate the Control Internal States Scale (PCOISS) a large sample Chinese adults. Data was collected through big project, which cross-sectional online survey conducted nationwide China using powerful platform named WenJuanXing ( https://www.wjx.cn/ ). We translated PCOISS into (C-PCOISS) with forward-backward translation procedure. For first time survey, 2709 participants (Sample 1) valid final analysis. Sample 1 split two datasets principal component analysis (PCA) (nA = 1355) confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) (nB 1354) determine potential structure. The scale's validity (i.e., discriminant validity, convergent criterion validity) consistency reliability were evaluated. Among 1354 respondents (nB), 761 (nC 761) participated follow-up second wave assess test-retest reliability. C-PCOISS retained 14 items. PCA yielded three-factor model supported best fit indices CFA. had satisfactory Cronbach's alpha coefficients 0.86, 0.78 0.72 three subscales, respectively. also showed adequate (Pearson correlations coefficient 0.64, 0.62 0.54 p < 0.001 respectively). Three factors positively associated positive affect, negatively negative depression, compulsion-anxiety perceived stress. reliable measuring
