ABSTRACT
The home food environment may be an important target for addressing adolescent obesity. aim of this study was to investigate associations between aspects the and diets adolescents who present obesity treatment. Cross-sectional baseline data were collected from 167 overweight/obese adolescent-parent pairs participating in e-health lifestyle modification intervention. Adolescent intake specific foods (fruit vegetables, total fat, sugar-sweetened beverages, desserts/treats, snacking occasions) assessed by three 24-h dietary recalls, while household factors parent questionnaires. Structural Equation Modeling, controlling relevant covariates, used examine relationship diet following factors: modeling, parenting style, family meal practices, food/beverage availability. Findings reveal that few characteristics associated with intake. Greater availability high-fat moderately snack (β = 0.27, p < .001). Associations fruit/vegetables fat small some unexpected directions. Parent modeling healthful choices healthier practices lower treats home, but not directly diets. healthy positive mealtime routines might contribute healthfulness offered homes are overweight/obese. Additional research is needed better characterize complex influence diet.
