ABSTRACT
Abstract Adiponectin (APM) is an adipocyte-derived adipokine with immunosuppressive, antidiabetic, and antiatherosclerotic properties. Low molecular weight (LMW)- higher (HMW)-APM circulate in the serum activate different signaling pathways. We were interested to see whether LMW-APM exerts effects on monocytic cells compared HMW isoform. Therefore, of recombinant produced insect APM from eukaryotic containing forms investigated respect apoptosis inflammation. LMW- HMW-APM induce nondifferentiated THP-1 cells, reduce macrophage scavenger receptor (MSR) A mRNA expression, stimulate phosphorylation adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK). However, induces secretion interleukin (IL)-6 human monocytes but does not suppress lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced IL-6 secretion. In contrast, reduces LPS-mediated release furthermore, stimulates IL-10 secretion, most likely by reducing abundance inhibitor nuclear factor (NF)-κB β, leading a diminished translocation NF-κB p65.
