ABSTRACT
Summary The West Africa Atlantic margin is characterized by complex subsalt geology. The imaging challenges in this area require a combination of wide-azimuth acquisitions with seismic broadband solutions to get a better understanding of the subsurface. The purpose of this paper is to present a Broadband WideAzimuth Towed Streamer (B-WATS) acquisition recently deployed for offshore West Africa. The proposed design provides full azimuth illumination and takes advantage of the variable-depth streamer broadband technology. It also provides interesting imaging and operational benefits compared to previous WAZ designs used in West Africa.
