Health-Related Quality of Life in Stable, Long-Term Survivors of Low-Grade Glioma

ABSTRACT
Purpose Patients with low-grade glioma (LGG) often experience long periods of stable disease, emphasizing the importance maintaining good health-related quality life (HRQOL). We assessed changes in HRQOL long-term survivors WHO grade I or II astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, oligoastrocytoma clinically and radiologically disease. Methods completed self-report measures generic (Short Form-36 [SF-36]) disease-specific (European Organisation for Research Treatment Cancer Quality Life Questionnaire–Brain Module). Assessments took place at midterm follow-up, on average 6 12 years after histologic diagnosis initial treatment, respectively. Comparisons between patients LGG individually matched healthy controls were made, change within was calculated, as minimal detectable change. Results Although no statistically significant differences found had worse physical role functioning (P = .004) general health perceptions than follow-up.
