ABSTRACT
1504 Background: Alternative delivery models are needed in the era of Precision Medicine given a shortage genetic providers and increasing utilization testing. Telephone disclosure (TD) test results, including multi-gene panel testing, is non-inferior to usual care in-person (IPD) for short-term distress but failed non-inferiority knowledge. Longitudinal data health behaviors needed. Methods: 970 patients undergoing clinical testing at 5 centers were randomly assigned IPD (n = 497) or TD 473) results COGENT Study (NCT01736345). Participants completed surveys after pre-test counseling, post-disclosure 6 12 months. We used tests primary analyses T-tests logistic regressions secondary analyses. Results: was not worse than anxiety both months, did reach threshold knowledge either time point. In there no significant differences anxiety, depression, cancer worry between arms, less gain (-0.41 v. +0.11 IPD, p 0.05) months (-0.34 +0.31 arm. arm, 195 (50%) returned follow-up with physician discuss medical management. Not returning varied by site associated negative result, being male non-white. Knowledge lower those who return (-0.77) compared (-0.17, 0.08). There arm performance mammogram, breast MRI, colonoscopy prophylactic surgeries. Conclusions: Distress unacceptably TD, non-inferiority. declined more follow-up, uptake screening risk reducing differ even MGPT, may be reasonable alternative agree meet provider management recommendations. Clinical trial information: NCT01736345.
