ABSTRACT
6546 Background: The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) Virtual Cancer Care Network was launched in January 2018 after we had established an electronic consult service where 555 hematology consults were completed at VAPHS FY17. clinical video telehealth (CVT) clinic allows veterans from central Pennsylvania to receive their anticancer therapy the Altoona, oncology pharmacy, nursing, telehealth, and supportive staff are on site. Patients follow regularly remotely during treatment via CVT visits with oncologist located 93 miles away Pittsburgh. Methods: A chemotherapy pharmacy nursing infusion created Altoona. started 2018. Data including treatment, adverse events defined through CTCAE v5.0, gender, age, zip code, other details examined retrospectively. Results: 279 for 89 patients Sept 87 male, 2 female. Average age 70 (range 45-90). Most common primary disease sites prostate (19.1%), colorectal (13.4%), lung (9%). 61.8% of treatment. Non-treatment surveillance survivorship. Treatment administered included platinum doublets, fluorouracil immunotherapy, oral therapy. 5.4% Grade 3-4 due febrile neutropenia, increased liver enzymes, hemolytic anemia. 41.7% grade 1-2 peripheral neuropathy, anemia, thrombocytopenia, infusion-related reactions. Using average commuting speed 60 mph a travel cost $ 0.56 per mile, total commute distance averted 49,579 miles. Mean patient 557 Total time saved 826 hours. mileage costs $27,764.
