ABSTRACT
e18068 Background: to summarize the characteristics of local extension eccentric and central nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) improve clinical target volume (CTV) delineation. Methods: MRIs 870 newly diagnosed NPC patients were reviewed. According tumor distribution feature, NPCs divided into lesions. Results: All invasions presented as continuous invasion from gross lesions structures adjacent nasopharynx are more likely be invaded. There 240 (27.6%) 630 (72.4%) cases with lesions, respectively. The spread centered on ipsilateral Rosenmüller’s fossa; most anatomic sites had significantly higher rates in side than contralateral ( P < 0.05); however, they at low risk concurrent bilateral 10%) except prevertebral muscle (15.4%) nasal cavity (13.8%). superior-posterior wall was common direction; furthermore, anatomical common. Conclusions: Local characterized proximal distal sites. showed different features. Individual CTV delineation should based tumors. lesion very probability tissue, thus routine prophylactic radiation parapharyngeal space skull base foramina may not necessary.
