ABSTRACT
569 Background: Obesity, a prominent issue in global health, is known to increase the risk factors associated with variety of cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), most common type primary liver cancer. While existing research affirms heightened developing HCC individuals obesity, there remains significant gap understanding specific influences obesity on outcomes patients admitted diagnosis during their index hospital admission. This study explores mortality rate, length stay (LOS), and healthcare utilization without obesity. Methods: Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) was queried determine adult hospitalized using ICD-10 codes. The outcome defined as effect inpatient those patients. Secondary included LOS, total charge, health care utilization, ICU We evaluated baseline characteristics t-test chi-square test. Multivariable logistic regression analysis performed assess association adjusted by age, gender, race, Charlson index, insurance, household income. Results: A 62,050 were identified, 10.9% these had younger (64.7 vs. 65 years, p=0.220), more likely be female (32.2% 24%, p < 0.001), White (59.8% 50.2% have no insurance (28.8% 23.3%, 0.001) compared higher mean Comorbidity 5.9 5.5, 0.001). overall rate 8.2% for all who are HCC; lower (5.6%) vs (8.5%) (p Male African–American Hospital teaching status, status found among hospitalizations. odds ratio decreased all-cause 25% (aOR 0.75, 95% CI 0.58-0.96, = 0.023). In addition, increased LOS 6.3 5.7 days (adjusted difference: 0.6 charges (mean $112,687 $88,481, $21122 0.0001). Also; transfer AKI development obese cohort this different statistically significant. Conclusions: Our revealed that despite longer stays costs. These findings hint at complex interplay between outcomes, necessitating further in-depth research.
