Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with metabolic, endocrine, and cardiovascular diseases. It characterized by repetitive episodes of apnea/hypopnea hypoxia in tissues, which might also impact bone metabolism. A total 1377 patients newly diagnosed 2000 to 2008 recruited compared a matched cohort 20 655 without OSA. All tracked until an osteoporosis diagnosis, death, or end 2011.During 6-year follow-up period, incidence rates comparison group 2.52 1.00 per 1000 person-years, respectively. Patients found be at 2.74 times risk than (95% confidence interval 1.69-4.44, P < .05), after adjustment for age, gender, diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, obesity, stroke, hyperlipidemia, chronic kidney gout, monthly income, geographical location. Subgroup analysis showed that older female had higher their younger male counterparts. Log-rank revealed significantly cumulative (P .0001).People are increased subsequent osteoporosis.
