ABSTRACT
To investigate the lateralization and localization of ictal EEG in focal epilepsy.A total 486 72 patients with epilepsy arising from mesial temporal, neocortical frontal, dorsolateral parietal, occipital regions were analyzed.Surface was adequately localized 72% cases, more often temporal than extratemporal epilepsy. Localized onsets seen 57% seizures most common lobe (MTLE), lateral frontal (LFLE), parietal epilepsy, whereas lateralized predominated generalized (MFLE) Approximately two-thirds localized, 22% generalized, 4% lateralized, 6% mislocalized/lateralized. False localization/lateralization occurred 28% 16% seizures. Rhythmic theta at onset exclusively seizures, repetitive epileptiform activity highly predictive LFLE. Seizures convexity differentiated by a high incidence former rhythmic latter. With exception recordings are very useful Some patterns accurate localizing epileptogenic lobe. One limitation is potential for false epilepsies.
