ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the clinical features of orthostatic tremor (OT) in a first ever prospectively studied cohort and to develop disease specific questionnaire quantifying impact on patients’ function quality life. Background: OT is rare condition characterized by unsteadiness standing with an associated 13–18Hz leg tremor, few therapeutic options. There are no established, objective markers severity. Design/Methods: Patients fulfilling diagnostic criteria for completed regarding characteristics, medication response, fall frequency use gait aid. isolation were classified Primary OT, while those additional neurological signs OT-plus. Interviews identified domains inclusion novel Impact Profile (OTIP). Forty-seven items across activities daily living (9), mobility social participation (2), assistance (8) emotional effects (19) drafted. Scores 0–4 given same patients invited complete final OTIP (score range 0–188). This was repeated at 6 years. Internal consistency retest correlation assessed. Results: Thirty-three enrolled sixteen available follow-up. No differences noted between primary OT-plus patients. Medication reduced over time benefits appear diminished. One patient received deep brain stimulation excellent enduring response. Falls increased (44% vs 6%, p=0.02) as did utility aids (33% 67%, p=0.02). The mean total score baseline 96(SD 52) difference follow up (84, p=0.4). sub-domain scores. Excellent internal reliability test-retest noted. Conclusions: We present followed cohort. Although issues emerge, we found change life measures contrary previous retrospective studies. may be useful marker future Disclosure: Dr. Vijiaratnam has nothing disclose.
