ABSTRACT
Human brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) display abnormal expression of various angiogenesis-related genes and their products. We examined gene patterns in BAVMs by the microarray technique. We analyzed BAVM control samples obtained temporal lobectomy for medically intractable seizure Affymetrix Gene Set U95Av2 (Affymetrix, Inc., Santa Clara, CA). The data were compared with new previously published that used conventional molecular biology techniques. We six five samples. From 12,625 probes assayed, 1781 showed differential between controls. had a pattern was distinct from those Increased messenger ribonucleic acid vascular endothelial growth factor A accompanied increased its protein product. majority agreement data. generated testable hypothesis regarding integrin, we found integrin alphavbeta3 BAVMs.The verified demonstrating levels molecules product expression. technique may be useful tool to study multiple pathways simultaneously specimens.
