ABSTRACT
We report the cloning, genomic localization, primary structure and developmental expression pattern of novel mouse Hox-4.3 gene. This gene is located within HOX-4(5) complex, at a position which classifies it as member Hox-3.1 -2.4 subfamily, DNA predicted protein sequences further confirmed this classification. has characteristic Hox but, in addition, contains several monotonic stretches amino acids, one 'paired'-like type. As expected from its presence complex. developmentally expressed structures either mesodermal or neurectodermal origin derived below precise craniocaudal level. However, very important offset between anteroposterior boundaries neuroectoderm versus mesoderm derivatives observed. Like other genes developing limbs gonads, suggesting that 'cluster specificity' could be feature HOX network.
